A bit more about the job:

The Ambassador Platform is actively seeking a skilled mid Backend developer to join our dynamic team. Our peer-to-peer platform provides a unique space for prospective students to connect with student ambassadors through chat, user-generated content, and video. If you are passionate about leveraging technology to revolutionise the future of education, this role is for you.

About you:

  • A minimum of 2.5 years of professional experience in a DevOps or similar role is mandatory.
  • Proficient with cloud service providers, with a strong preference for AWS expertise, though familiarity with GCP and MS Azure.
  • A solid grasp of contemporary monitoring paradigms is essential, with prior experience in utilising monitoring tools such as Prometheus or New Relic
  • Demonstrated experience in constructing and optimising CI/CD pipelines, coupled with a thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Security fundamentals are crucial: expertise in secrets management, data encryption, and network security protocols including VPNs, firewalls/security groups, Web Application Firewalls (WAF), and the distinctions between private and public networks.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience with Linux-based operating systems, encompassing maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Automation of routine operations, with hands-on experience in at least one configuration management system.

Your Impact:

  • Collaborating with developers to setup new servers/tools for optimal deployment.
  • Driving enhancements in the CI/CD process to accelerate development and deployment cycles.
  • Actively participating in the evolution and troubleshooting of our monitoring systems to ensure robust, real-time operational insights.
  • Spearheading security and performance hardening initiatives.

The person we're looking for:

  • Nice, friendly, and love working with people
  • Experience in the Higher Education sector is desirable
  • Experience working for a start-up or scale-up company preferable
  • Experience of marketing a SAAS technology product is a nice to have
  • Takes ownership of the outcomes, doesn't make excuses, and gets the job done
